Exchange in the making: The first steps.

Hello from abroad, for those of you who don't know me, I am a grade 10 student from St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada. I attend St. Stephen High School and I'm in my 8th year of French Immersion. I have been saving up for the past year to participate in an exchange program, taking me on an opportunity of a lifetime to France for three months.

As a fundraising idea, I created a line of artwork called "Make & Wander", inspired by the collaboration of Art & Travel, a few of my favourite things. I designed Birthday Cards and a 2019 Calendar using watercolour paints. With the help of many leaders, businesses and organizations in my hometown, including Dale Matheson Trucking co., The Rotary Club, and Kristan & Josh Cloney, the CEO's of Spree and Cloney Construction, the dream is real.

Many people were shocked that I felt ready to live away from my family for three months - and that my parents were letting me! Anyone that knows me, knows that opportunities like this excite me. I wouldn't have passed this up for anything. I have always been taught the importance of travelling and told that there is a huge world outside of my little town with a population of 5,000. I believe that it was after my first big trip with EF Tours to London & Paris in 2016, that I caught the travel bug. I was 13 years old. In March of 2018 I travelled to Italy, and when I came home I couldn't wait to hop on a plane again.

I had a student from France live with me for three months, and now I am living with her in France for three months. I am attending school here, and we just recently had a two-week vacation. We visited many parts of France, each with different stories. I have already made so many great memories, and I have so many stories to share with those of you back home.

More to come,

xo
